hampshire college welcome center

OMR Architects was a finalist in the competition for the conceptual design of a welcome center at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. The design was for a welcoming place for prospective students that would demonstrate the college’s collaborative and creative spirit while also being a sustainable building that would be capable of achieving LEED Platinum or Living Building status. OMR worked with Regenesis Group and RDG to achieve these sustainability goals.

The project included multiple options that involved flexible gathering spaces, offices, break out spaces, cafe, store, living room, student seminar, meeting room, kiosk, reception, multiple outdoor gathering spaces including amphitheater, rain garden, and green roof.
