quinn middle school

Quinn Middle School is a new 21st Century middle school located in Hudson, Massachusetts. The 118,500-sf school serves grades 5-7 and is located on the previous middle school site (the John F. Kennedy Middle School). Design emphasis on community activities and team learning has already had great success with students and teachers.

The three grades are organized around two-story, daylit common areas in each separate grade wing, vertically linking the three teams for that grade. The special education program is distributed throughout the school and integrated with the school population. Easily accessible from the classroom areas, the core facilities include a 250-seat cafetorium, media center, art, band/choral and drama spaces, technology labs, and a gymnasium. Site facilities include play areas, outdoor classroom spaces and refurbished fields for soccer and baseball.

New parking, bus, car and pedestrian circulation routes improved site safety and provide access to the improved athletic fields. Separate pickup zones for buses and cars ensure safe loading and unencumbered circulation.

The project is anticipated to receive a LEED for Schools Gold Certification with many sustainable features including energy efficient building systems, bio-retention basins to filter storm water, and materials selected for green and environmental attributes.
