emerson umbrella center for the arts
Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts (EUCA) is a not-for-profit institution that supports visual and performing arts activities with child and adult art education programs, a theatre available to local and traveling dramatic and musical organizations, and artist’s studios for painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, woodworking, etc. It is housed in the former Concord High School and serves both Concord and surrounding Massachusetts communities.
OMR has performed a phased study for the EUCA intended to assist in developing and supporting their long-term Strategic Facilities Plan. Phase 1 was an assessment of the existing facilities and includes recommendations intended to improve maintenance, reduce operating costs, and generally make the facility more inviting and comfortable. Phase 2 studied two options that accommodate desired program changes and to make the facility more welcoming, accessible, and to enhance EUCA’s position in both the local and regional arts communities. Option 2 would re-purpose the existing attic and provide expanded floor area. Phase 3 was focused specifically on supporting the Strategic Facilities Plan and capital campaign.
